Voting in the ComicScene Awards 2025 has now officially opened, offering you the opportunity to vote for your favourite British comics, creators and more – including downthetubes.
The categories you can vote in are Best British Comic, Best Children’s Comic, Best Charity Comic, Best US Comic, Best Crowdfunder, Best Indie Comic, Best Original Graphic Novel, Best Comic Media, Best Comic Collection, Comic Creator of 2024, Best Event, and Best Retail Outlet.
You can vote in this year’s Awards until the end of January 2025 and winners will be announced on 14th February – the annual ComicScene “I Love Comics” Day.
This year, publisher ComicScene, run by Tony Foster, has also included a section for comic publishers to provide their print and digital sales for 2024, so they can produce a sales chart for 2024.
“This is entirely voluntary,” says Tony, “but we hope it will be interesting reading for those who participate.”
Scant data is available in the public domain for comic sales in the UK, so if take up is positive, the results might make for illuminating reading.
Voters will immediately notice some former winners, such as 2000AD and ComicScene, are missing from their expected categories, because they won last year. Their omission isn’t permanent.
“Last year’s winners are not included in the final nominations. They can be included next year,” says Tony.
“As we also celebrate 200 years of comic books in 2025, we hope this will be an even bigger year for those voting.”
