Film and Commando writer Stephen Walsh – perhaps best known for his work with Keith Page on Charlotte Corday – will script WarWorldz: Origins, a contemporary tale set in the WarWorldz Shared Universe, originally by conceived by John Freeman as a potential TV series.
The strip will be drawn by Marvel artist Giancarlo Caracuzzo, perhaps best known for his work on Orson Scott Card’s Formic Wars.
In the far future, as, we’ve seen in Death Duty, the Terran Empire has risen to hold sway over a huge part of our Galaxy – but how did humans gain the technology and the means to take on powerful alien races, subjugate them, and in some cases… bring about their extinction?
On present day Earth, the seeds of humankind’s meteoric rise, corruption and fall are about to be sown, witnessed by a pilot of the Royal Air Force… on a mysterious deadly planet known as — WarWorld!
Warworldz – Origins will initially feature as a weekly web comic on the Tapastic platform, where another Freeman project, Crucible, drawn and co-created with 2000AD artist Smuzz, is already enjoying a favourable reception.
Warworldz – Origins is one of several projects under way in the WarWorldz Universe, with Death Duty already featuring in the e-comic Biodegradable. Other projects already in the works include Skow Dogs, drawn by Dave Thomson and Border World, drawn by Bill Storie.
