It’s ace Brazilian artist Joe Pimentel‘s birthday today, so what better way to mark that than to mention his Art Book Pin Up Collection, created in partnership with fellow artist Rafael Schneider?
Released last year, the collection features 45 artworks created in traditional ink and brush and in black and white.
The book is one of two projects Rafael (aka Rafa Silva) has been promoting from his native Brazil, the other being Guardians of Tomorrow, created in partnership with Marcio Augusto. Details on how to purchase below.
I had the pleasure of working with Joe Pimentel, albeit all too briefly, on a Dan Dare project that was one of several PrintMedia projects that never saw the light of day, but one strip, at least, “The Martian Menace” was published in Spaceship Away Issue 41, as noted here. Joe did a cracking job breathing new life into a new take on the Eagle-bron character, and while the project foundered, the development work was put to good use to create the background for the Dan Dare Audio Adventures.
Happy Birthday, Joe!
