Paul also drew for Eagle, TV21, Tiger and Roy of the Rovers and is well known for known for his portraits of sports personalities, from Pele to Tendulkar.
Born in 1934 in London, just a ‘corner kick’ away from his beloved Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, Trevillion’s extraordinary artistic talent was discovered and nurtured at a very young age.
Encouraged by family, school teachers, and most notably Sir Winston Churchill and HRH Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, he pursued a ground breaking career in the world of sporting art which has seen his original work published in Europe, USA, Australia, Japan and South Africa.
In 2012, “You are the Ref” became a permanent interactive exhibit at the National Football Museum in Manchester and in 2013 Paul received a major commission by the Football Association to turn his moving art into animated films focusing on discrimination in football.
Following the highly successful Master of Movement Exhibition at London’s Strand Gallery in 2014, Paul as installed as the Artist in Residence at the National Football Museum in 2016, to coincide with a Trevillion Art Exhibition and the launch of the world’s first “Football Walk of Fame”.
His motto to young aspiring artists is “Follow your dream. Never allow anyone to say – you can’t achieve it. You have to be the one who believes in YOU more than anyone else.”
The Black Gallery will showcase contemporary and traditional art and photography for collectors and is planning numerous events, workshops, life drawing, portfolio reviews, talks and networking evenings.
Other artists and photographers whose work features at the Gallery are artists Alan Kidd and Sally Fisher and Fine Art International Photographers Vanessa Champion, Adriaan van Heerden and David Newton, who will also be at the opening night.
