Vice Press – producers of numerous stunning 2000AD-inspired posters – has teamed with the Galaxy’s Greatest Comic and Thought Bubble Festival to celebrate 40 Years of the Galaxy’s Greatest comic with a Thrill-Powered gallery exhibition in Leeds later this year. Some of the art they’ve already shared with us – including art by Carlos Ezquerra and Chris Weston that will be part of this is, frankly, stunning.
Running from 1st to 30th September at The Gallery at Munro House on Duke Street, Leeds, Vice Press Presents: Zarjaz! An Art Tribute to 40 Years of 2000 AD! will feature work by Earth’s mightiest artists and designers from comics and pop culture.
Vice Press are a UK-based print house co-founded by artist Matt Ferguson, specialising in limited edition, licensed art prints
The exhibition, I’m told, will combine both original tribute art and limited edition prints from the finest art droids to grace the pages of 2000AD.
Not only that, but it will also feature the rare opportunity to witness some of contemporary comics’ biggest names deliver their own takes on classic 2000AD characters. Based on the images we’ve been sent, I think you’ll agree attendees are in for a treat!
A must for posters and graphic art collectors, all of the unique work on display will be available to add to your collection.
Ahead of the two-day Thought Bubble Comic Convention, on Friday 22nd September, from 7.00pm onwards, Vice Press and 2000AD will be hosting a special Thought Bubble Exhibition Event at The Gallery at Munro House which will be attended by the cream of the participating artists and will include a bar as well as a few memorable surprises and highly exclusive releases.
If your circuits haven’t overloaded yet, the Nerve Centre will be making the Helltrek to Leeds deliver the ‘2000AD Juve Cube’ – the official after-party of the opening of Vice Press Presents: Zarjaz! An Art Tribute to 40 Years of 2000AD.
The Juve Cube will be a riotous night of celebration featuring Live music, DJs and live art from super-star VIP droids featured in the accompanying exhibition.
Attendees to the Vice Press exhibition will receive discounted entry to the nearby 2000AD Juve Cube, where the party runs from 8.30pm to late at Belgrave Music Hall & Canteen in Leeds City Centre. The event is supported by the Leeds College of Art.
