2000AD art by Carlos Ezquerra, José Ortiz, offered on Catawiki

Two pages of 2000AD art, including a dramatic, early “Strontium Dog” page by Carlos Ezquerra, are on offer in this week’s Comic Artworks Auction on Catawiki, curated by Louis Girard.

Among the lots on offer featuring art by a wide variety of European artist is an original page drawn by Carlos Ezquerra for an episode of the Strontium Dog story “Journey into Hell”, published in 2000AD prog 117, cover dated 16th June 1979.

This is a very early page of Strontium Dog artwork from the co-creator of Judge Dredd.

In the regular Comic Artworks Auction curated by Filippo Piras, on offer is a moody original pen and ink wash artwork by José Ortiz’s for the story Rogue Trooper story, “The Fanatics”, written by Pete Milligan, lettered by Tony Jacob, first published in 1986 for the 2000AD Sci-Fi Special.

Plus, check out this Judge Dredd page painted by Manuel Benet in 1993, which includes an incredible splash panel of a new Judge Robot being destroyed and exploded to pieces, from the story “Mechanismo”, written by John Wagner.
