2019 Beano and Dandy Summer Special Covers Revealed

DC Thomson Media have teased the covers for this year’s Beano Summer Activity Special and Dandy Summer Special – and you can pre-order both now.

Both will be in the bookazines, the Beano special offering new material the Dandy publication featuring reprints from the comic’s archive.

The Beano Summer Activity Special 2019 offers 68 pages with a cover by Nigel Parkinson, packed full of comics, jokes, puzzles and one epic adventure, and includes a set of hilarious prank stickers inside! It’s even better than no school for six whole weeks!

The Dandy Summer Special offers a cover by Ken H. Harrison, featuring Desperate Dan, Cuddles and Dimples and loads of awesome activities. Rain or shine, vacation or staycation, the Dandy‘s favourite characters, it’s the only holiday souvenir you need!

Both specials will be on sale in good newsagents and supermarkets across the UK, usually in either late June or early July – we don’t have exact on sale dates yet, or you can pre-order them from the publisher on the official DC Thomson Web Shop – buy them both and it’ll cost you a tenner.

John Freeman

John is the founder of downthetubes, launched in 1998. He is a comics and magazine editor, writer, and Press Officer for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He also runs Crucible Comic Press.

Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine and Overkill for Marvel UK, Babylon 5 Magazine, Star Trek Magazine, and its successor, Star Trek Explorer, and more. He’s the writer of comics such as Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs”, with Dave Hailwood.
