Scorch Comics, an independent comic book store in Eastbourne is hosting two major events in-store this weekend, offering customers the chance to meet some great comic creators – Green Lantern and Wonder Woman artist Liam Sharp, and 2000AD artists Boo Cook and Chris Weston.
For the annual, internationally-recognised family-friendly Free Comic Book Day (Saturday 4th May) where readers old and young can pick up a selection of free comics, a special
signing event features one of the biggest names in comics: Boo Cook, the critically acclaimed artist for Doctor Who, Elephantmen and “Judge Dredd”.
On Bank Holiday Monday (6th May), Scorch Comics follow up FCBD with a signing and sketch session from with more world-famous comic book artists, including Liam Sharp, who’s originally from Eastbourne. He’s heading to his home town after Portsmouth Comic Con, celebrating deserved success with Brave and the Bold: Batman & Wonder Woman, and the new Green Lantern, one of the best-selling US comics of the year.
Boo Cook will be back, too, and joining them will be comic artist Chris Weston (Star
Wars, “Judge Dredd”, Batman, Fantastic Four) – two more famous Eastbourne residents.
Plus all weekend, spend over £20 in-store and get 15% off your Wyntercon tickets – the convention taking place at Eastbourne Sports Park in September.
“We’re expecting a huge turnout across the weekend,” says shop owner Jon Simmons. “Free
Comic Book Day is the biggest day of the year for fans of the medium to come together and share their love with new and long-time fans alike.
“With the huge success of comic book movies like Avengers: Endgame, there is no better opportunity to give fans the chance to return to the roots of these blockbusters and discover
the history of characters they love.”
