Titan Comics has announced they will publish Bloodthirsty: One Nation Under Water, a visceral revenge thriller that merges the real-world hopes and horrors of a post-disaster community with an engaging thread of political corruption, class divide and blood-curdling terror…
The series that aims to give New Orleans its very own, home-grown hero, was announced during the San Diego Comic Con 2015 Diamond retailer presentation last Friday and the impressive creative team behind the project has already launched an official web site for it at http://bloodthirstycomic.com.
Written by Louisiana native and Disney screenwriter Mark Landry, Bloodthirsty is illustrated by Interview With The Vampire artist Ashley Marie Witter, and has received public support from none other than superstar artist Georges Jeanty (Serenity, Buffy The Vampire Slayer).
The giant-sized issue #1 will come with two covers to collect, one created by Star Wars cover artist Nick Runge.
Haunted by the catastrophe that tore his city apart ten years ago, Coast Guard veteran, Virgil Lafleur, struggles daily with the hardships of a post-Katrina New Orleans. But when his younger brother’s murder leads him into a vortex of intrigue, corruption, and violence, Virgil becomes obsessed with bringing the killers to justice and exposing the horrific secret hiding beneath the Mississippi.
Mark Landry, the writer/creator of Bloodthirsty: One Nation Under Water, grew up in Louisiana. After graduating from LSU, he moved to Los Angeles to study storytelling at the USC School of Cinematic Arts. He’s had the honour of working at both Lucasfilm and the Donner company.
Since graduating from USC, he has co-written screenplays for Nickelodeon, The Disney Channel and others. He co-created the Teen Beach Movie franchise, which is one of the most watched cable TV movies in history… though it has a slightly different genre than Bloodthirsty!
Chicago-based Ashley Marie Witter‘s credits include work for US manga publisher Yen Press, including the graphic novel of Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire.
She’s also worked on the webcomics Reign of Adeodatus and Scorch, and contributed to a comics anthology called Gothology: The Eternal Sad by DAPshow.
The full team on the project are detailed here.
