Spaceship Away nears its half century edition

The latest issue of Spaceship Away, Part 49, brings the Eagle-inspired comic zine closer to an impressive half century of issues, with a dramatic image of the “Dan Dare” villain, Xel, on its cover by Keith Watson.

This 40-page issue sees the conclusion of the long-running Dan Dare adventure “Shakedown Cruise” by Tim Booth. Has The Mekon finally been destroyed?

Spaceship Away Part 49 - Montage

The issue’s main feature is “The Story of My Life” by author David Motton, detailing his childhood, career as editor and writer of many well known comics and strip stories, in Comet, Commando, Dandy, Eagle, Knockout, and more.

Artist and writer Alan Vince, also look back at how he ended up talking and writing about his favourite comic strip artists and writers; and Ray Wright delivers more “Space News“.
