Alex Paknadel is the writer of the highly acclaimed series Friendo, Arcadia and Turncoat and it’s just been announced he’s working on Lords of Empyre: Swordsman for Marvel, which debuts in June.

Alex discusses his love of comics, with co-hosts Ian Loxam and Nikki Bates, and how he got into creating comics and his process.

Pete Taylor chats to Nigel Twumasi, the co-founder of mayamada, a creative brand inspired by anime and manga about his comic creating process. A Prince’s Trust supported company, they’ve featured in Vogue, GQ, The Voice, London Live, Metro and more.

Nigel and co-founder Lao write original manga-style comics set in their own universe of characters, design streetwear clothing, host their own social gaming event, and deliver workshops using storytelling to unlock the creative potential in young people.

Mike Williams reviews William Gibson’s Alien 3, the official adaptation of the original screenplay from Dark Horse Comics and tells the curious story of the other lost scripts.

Reviewed this time out are the absolutely beautiful fairy stories collection, Gamayun Tales Volume One by Alexander Utkin, published this week by NoBrow, and Canopus Issues 1-4 by writer/artist Dave Chisholm, published by Scout Comics.

Ian and Nikki also discuss the short strip entitled “Talking to Dad” by Jamie Smart, which will have most people in tears.

Jamie recently reposted the strip, on Twitter, drawn after his Dad died suddenly, ten years ago.
