Creator Spotlight: Rachael Smith’s Quarantine Comix

Rachael Smith’s Quarantine Comix

Throughout the lockdown, the amazingly talented comic artist Rachael Smith has been posting her daily Quarantine Comix, creating a strip a day reflecting the strange times we’re living in.

Theses strips, much like her previous work, have earned deserved praise from many different quarters and are very much worth checking out.

By turn, they’re funny, poignant and often thought provoking. More than anything else, Rachael captures the many different feelings running through our heads nine to the dozen in these weird times quite beautifully, with plenty of humour, too.

Plus, Cats! Dogs! Always a bonus. Though “Barky” not so much, so let’s not give him the time of day…

Rachael Smith is also the creator of the biographical comic, Wired Up Wrong.

Her debut graphic novel House Party came out in 2014 with Great Beast Comics to critical acclaim. The Rabbit, released by Avery Hill Publishing in 2015, was her second graphic novel and was nominated for Best Book in the British Comic Awards 2014/15.

Rachael, who lives in Hebden Bridge, Yorkshire, is also the creator of Flimsy the Kitten, One Good Thing, and the webcomic, Bess.
