Art of Charlie Adlard book to launch at Lakes Festival

The Art of Charlie Adlard

We’ve got word that Image Comics’ The Art of Charlie Adlard at will now get its official launch at the Lakes International Comic Art Festival and not in New York Comic Con as originally planned – another great reason to get to Kendal (18th-20th October, in case you’d forgotten…)

Charlie has defined the look of the modern-day horror comic with his work on The Walking Dead. Now, this oversized art book delves into the full history of Charlie’s amazing career, including an unprecedented look at the making of his 100th issue of The Walking Dead.

The book features an introduction by Jonathan Ross, as well as commentary by The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, SFX guru Greg Nicotero, and more, and we have some preview spreads below, courtesy of Image Comics and the Lakes International Comic Art Festival.

Charlie’s appearance in Kendal is pretty much his only appearance outside of local comics appearances in the UK this year (apart from a signing at Fiorbidden Planet London in November) and he says he’s really looking forward to it.

“Looks like it’s shaping up to be a very unique, European-inspired, event,” he says. “I hope it becomes a regular show in the comics calendar.”
