Britbox joins in the Gerry Anderson Day celebrations, coming soon

What’s your favourite Gerry Anderson show of all time? Are you a Thunderbirds fan or a Captain Scarlet addict? Do you prefer the live action of Space 1999 or the Supermarionation of Stingray? Did you grow up with Fireball XL5 – or UFO?

Well, Britbox, one of the UK’s favourite streaming services is giving you a chance to enjoy a top ten of the best-ever shows from the legendary Gerry Anderson in the week leading up to Gerry Anderson Day, a day-long celebration of the life and work of the legendary producer, on his birthday – 14th April 2021.

BritBox, the subscription-based streaming service for great British telly and iconic films, is giving you a chance to celebrate, argue about and enjoy its selection of the ten greatest episodes from Gerry Anderson’s 60-year career.

And that’s not all. Every one of the ten shows includes a brand new introduction featuring archive audio with the great Gerry Anderson himself, who introduces series and episodes in his own words, talking about the background to each of the shows and telling never-before-heard anecdotes. Exclusive clips are also available via all BritBox social media channels.

The founder of downthetubes, John works as a comics editor, writer, as Creative Consultant on the Dan Dare audio adventures for B7 Media, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. Working in British comics publishing for over 30 years, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Star Trek Magazine and Babylon 5 Magazine. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War and “Dan Dare”. He’s the writer of “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz, published on Tapastic; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood for digital comic 100% Biodegradable.
