It’s the best prize in comics and it’s now all online – the 2000AD talent search panels return as part of the Thought Bubble convention, but in a virtual format only.

If you’re looking to break into comics, then don’t miss the chance to get your art or writing into the legendary 2000AD, as Tharg the Mighty’s droids sit in judgement on hopeful writers and artists looking to join their ranks.

Taking place as part of the Thought Bubble weekend in November, but this time in the form of virtual rather than physical pitch sessions, the 2000AD Art Challenge and 2000AD Writing Challenge offer you the chance to win paid work on the Galaxy’s Greatest Comic, where legendary creators such as Mark Millar, Jock, Brian Bolland, Frazer Irving, Charlie Adlard, and many more got their big break.

The winner of The 2000AD Art Challenge will see their work appear in 2000AD and they’ll get paid for it! First, check out the full details of the challenge here and download and draw your version of the sample script and you could join the ranks of the biggest names in British comic books by getting a paid work from Tharg the Mighty. An online panel of top creators will sift through a selection of finalists chosen by 2000AD editorial and pick who should get their art into the pages of of the Galaxy’s Greatest Comic.

For The 2000AD Writing Challenge, all you need to do is write your own “Future Shock”, and pitch it in a video to an online panel of 2000AD creators – but you’ve only got two minutes to do it! An online panel of top creators will sift through a selection of finalists chosen by 2000AD editorial – blow their socks off to win and not only will you get published in 2000AD, but you’ll get paid for it too.

The judging will take place on the Thought Bubble Youtube channel during the weekend of the convention, not at the event itself, which returns to Harrogate over the weekend of 13th – 14th November 2021.

You have until 24th October 2021 to email your entries to 2000AD – good luck!

  1. Hi John,
If you look at the text of the article you link to, they say that art sumbissions must be in PDF (or JPG) format, but in the T&Cs on the *same* page they say that PDFs will NOT be accepted.

Is this an error? or is it a wiley test to see who is paying attention?? 😉

  2. Hi John,
The article you linked states that the artwork must be in PDF (or JPG) format, but the T&Cs on that same page say that PDF will *not* be accepted.

Is this a mistake, or a wiley trap to see if people actually read the T&Cs??
