Sneek Peek – Marvel’s Revolutionary War, reviving Marvel UK characters

Revolutionary War Part 1: Alpha

(Updated 14/12/13 to include all issue details): Marvel Comics has just released three tantalising pages, below, from their upcoming Revolutionary War limited series, which re-introduces the Marvel UK characters first created back in the 1990s to the wider Marvel universe.

Former Marvel UK editor Alan Cowsill tells us he and comics artist and writer Andy Lanning are rounding off their scripts on the final episode, and a full schedule has been released for the series, below.

“I’m finding it all really exciting, says Alan. “Hopefully it’s going to take a few people by surprise.”

Revolutionary War is set at an undefined point after the Marvel UK heroes main protagonist in the original Marvel UK stories published in the 1990s, the mysterious Illuminati-styled MyS-TECH organisation, were defeated in one Earth-shattering climactic battle. But they were wrong. Mys-TECH has returned, and their presence threatens not only the world – but the entire universe!

In a parallel with the real world events at Marvel UK following the company’s collapse and absorption by Panini, S.H.I.E.L.D have crossed the Atlantic and Nick Fury has cherry-picked the heroes he wants to work with – such as Captain Britain and MI-13  – and S.H.I.E.L.D has shut down the rest.

Now, Marvel UK’s greatest heroes must band together for the first time in 20 years to stop a long forgotten enemy. But are they too late?

The series, which launches in January 2014, will feature art and stories from a great range of British comic creators, including some who got their first breaks into the comics business at Marvel UK.

Andy and Alan are the writers on the opening and closing books of the series (titled Alpha and Omega), to be drawn by Richard Elson, and the project will be edited by Stephen Wacker, who has said he wants to retain the UK feel of the original.

The confirmed running order and release dates for the eight issue limited series is as follows:
