Neil Gaiman announces US tour in 2022 (plague permitting)

Award-winning author Neil Gaiman has just announced a wide-ranging US book tour in next year.

“Next year (Epsilon and Omega variants permitting) between the 28th of April and the 26th of May, I will be ricocheting across American theatres & concert halls doing two years’ worth of postponed ‘Evenings With Neil Gaiman’, he announced on Tumblr.

The tour will encompass venues across the US, including Chicago, Columbus, Dallas, Denver, Indianapolis, Houston, Los Angeles, San Diego and more.

“Expect stories and poems to be read, questions to be answered (much like the thing that happens here on Tumblr only it’s me doing it live in front of you), and so forth. They are actually enormous fun. After this I’ll probably not tour for a while.”

Neil’s credits are many, but if you prefer the short version, on Facebook he declares: “Will eventually grow up & get a real job. Until then, will keep making things up & writing them down.”

His work spans both British (Violent Cases) and US comics (Sandman, and much more), children’s books (including Coraline, The Graveyard Book), novels for adults (American Gods), film (Coraline, Stardust) and television (Doctor Who, Good Omens, currently shooting a new season, Neverwhere and more).

There’s theatre too, with an adaptation of The Ocean at the End of the Lane currently enjoying an acclaimed run at Duke of York’s Theatre in London, running until May 2022.

Last year, he was one of a number of top authors who contributed to the anthology, Doctor Who: Adventures In Lockdown, with two tales, “Rory’s Story”, and “One Virtue, And A Thousand Crimes”, illustrated by Chris Riddell.

He is listed in the Dictionary of Literary Biography as one of the top ten living post-modern writers and is a prolific creator of works of prose, poetry, film, journalism, comics, song lyrics, and drama. His books and stories have also been honoured with Hugos, Nebulas, the World Fantasy Award, Bram Stoker Awards, Locus Awards, British SF Awards, British Fantasy Awards, Geffens, Mythopoeic Awards, and numerous others.

John Freeman

The founder of downthetubes, which he established in 1998. John works as a comics and magazine editor, writer, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He is currently editor of Star Trek Explorer, published by Titan – his third tour of duty on the title originally titled Star Trek Magazine.

Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Babylon 5 Magazine, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”.

He’s the writer of “Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies” for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
