Psylocke – Captain Britain’s sister – is to join the line up of playable characters in the Marvel Heroes game in the near future, prompting many British fans to ask if Captain Britain is far behind.

News of Betsy Braddock’s impending debut in the game came as part of a general announcement from game makers Gazillion Entertainment and Marvel Entertainment, who are giving Marvel Heroes players the chance to pre-order the playable heroes and villains planned for release in 2014 at a substantial discount with the announcement of the Marvel Heroes Advance Pack.

Following Loki’s release as the first playable villain in Marvel Heroes, the Advance Pack, available for a limited time only, will include villains such as Juggernaut, the alien symbiote Venom, and Magneto – the Master of Magnetism. Heroes in the Pack include Psylocke, the Silver Surfer, Star-Lord, Night Crawler and Doctor Strange.

As an extra bonus, the Advance Pack Deluxe Edition includes a complimentary Wolverine “Fear Itself” costume and Gambit’s “As Death” Enhanced costume for your in-game character, one month before they are officially released. The Deluxe Edition also includes a free alternate costume for each of 12 heroes and other goodies.

As a limited-time holiday bonus thank you to Marvel Heroes players, Gazillion has also announced that if you order the Deluxe Edition by 31st December 2013 and receive a full Ghost Rider hero bundle, including both Ghost Rider costumes, his hero stash tab, and fortune cards.

Some of the Advance Pack – Deluxe Edition content begins shipping this month, although it should be noted that the character roll out extended into 2015.

Elizabeth “Betsy Braddock” was initially a supporting character in the adventures of her twin brother, Captain Britain, first appearing in Captain Britain Weekly Issue 8 way back in 1976, briefly substituting for him in the role. In 1986, she became the psychic knife-wielding Psylocke, a mutant superheroine and the X-Men member. Originally presented as a precognitive in the pages of Captain Britain and then as a telepath, the character acquired the telekinesis of Jean Grey (although just how was never explained). She later possesses both telepathy and telekinesis. Later, Psylocke acquired the body, skills and elements of personality of a Japanese female ninja mutant known as Kwannon.
