Illustrator and comic creator Alan Langford, an artist whose work has left its mark across British comics, fantasy art, and iconic genre storytelling, has joined the guest lineup for Gosport Comic Con in March.
He joins a growing lineup of guests for the event that already includes 2000AD artist Grant Perkins and Star Trek: The Next Generation’s Marina Sirtis.

downthetubes readers will recognise him as the creator of the graphic novel The Secret of the Aesir, published in 2020, and you may have read his recent strip, “Doomed Covenant” here. His ability to blend realism with imagination has made him a favourite among collectors and genre fans alike.
Alan began his artistic career in 1979, working as a full-time illustrator for “Etchmasters” going freelance in the early 1980s, drawing strips for 2000AD, Warlord, New Eagle and Supernaturals, and providing cover art and illustrations for many fantasy game books.
Since then, he’s illustrated history books, encyclopaedias, adventure stories, myths and legend, and worked for the BBC, illustrating the stories of “Romulus and Remus” and “Androcles and the Lion” for the children’s programme Zig-Zag.
Whether you’re a long‑time admirer or discovering his work for the first time, this is a rare chance to meet a true craftsman of British illustration.

Organised by Vanguard Comics, taking place on Saturday 28th March 2026 at the Bay House School Sports Centre, Gosport Comic Con is a relatively new pop culture event whose guest list leads with special headliner Marina Sirtis. Best known for her unforgettable role as Counselor Deanna Troi on Star Trek: The Next Generation, Marina Sirtis is a beloved figure in science fiction and pop culture.
Also joining the event from the world of comics is Grant Perkins, the acclaimed artist behind WWE, Doctor Who, and 2000AD.
The organisers also welcome back Tony McCarthy, with credits in Lord Of the Rings, Andor, Batman, Wicked, Fantastic Four and many others and Brian Wheeler, of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and the Harry Potter films; and Clem So, whose many credits include Doctor Who, Doctor Strange, Skyfall, Star Wars and Justice League. Also joining the event this year is Tina Simmons, whose credits include several James Bond films, Superman 4, Only Fools and Horses, Spider-Man: Far from Home and Return of the Jedi.
This year the event will be honouring the Gosport legend Bob Anderson, who worked as a stunt swordsman on The Master of Ballantrae with Errol Flynn — an experience that launched a 50‑year career in cinema. He went on to become Hollywood’s most respected sword master, shaping the on‑screen fighting style of generations. His choreography and coaching appear in some of the most iconic films ever made, including Star Wars, as Darth Vader’s stunt double in lightsaber duels, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and much more.
Stay tuned for more guest announcements — this year’s lineup is shaping up to be something special.
