The upcoming issue of We Belong Dead magazine, the fanzine of the classic age of horror, features some great art from Paul Garner, paying homage to the classic Summer Specials of days gone… with added monsters!

If it’s comics coverage you’re after, however, out later this year from We Belong Dead is a 1980s Monster Memories book, which will include an article by Doctor Who and Godzilla fan John Sewell, about growing up with 2000AD in that decade.


We Belong Dead, Issue 48 available from AmazonUK now with two variant covers (Affiliate Link), regularly offers in-depth articles and illustrated with a plethora of stills and film posters.
The magazine first appeared 30 years ago, now publishing a large format, full colour 100 page magazine, plus lots of exciting genre books.
The first eight issues from the 1990s are long out of print and much sought after. The We Belong Dead Fearbook, a collection of the very best of those early issues was published in full colour for the first time back in 2023.
Paul Garner is a Brighton-based freelance artist, inspired since he was a monster-kid by the wild cartoon vibe of Mad Magazine, the ghoulish cool of Aurora glow-in-the-dark model kits, the sneaky alure of late-night horror double bills on TV and assorted other goodies designed to melt the mind of impressionable youth. His paintings and caricatures have work appeared on book covers, in magazines. as tattoos, on posters and hot sauce labels, on T-shirts and CD cover art, on sideshow banners & murals, and as concept art for film, TV and stage.
Paul is also house cartoonist for the famous Pleasance Theatre, the Edinburgh Fringe’s largest venue, where his giant murals and cartoon graphics have been landmarks at the world’s biggest arts festival for the last several years.
