Early Dan Dare original art included in upcoming auction

Nestling inside a much wider auction of Collectables and Memorabilia from Vernon Fox Auctions, running this week, is a page of original EAGLE comic “Dan Dare” cover art attributed to Frank Hampson. (Frank, of course, worked with a dedicated team of artists on these early pages of the space adventure strip).

Included in an auction that also offers art prints by Sir Terence Cuneo, Frank Wootton and John Young is the cover art for Eagle Volume 1 No. 21, cover dated 1st September 1950, Dan rescuing fellow space explorers during his mission to Venus.

(If your budget only runs to a copy of the comic, there’s one on offer here on eBay, from a trader, pscan, with plenty more comics on offer!)

There is no other comic art in the auction, but it does also feature First Day Covers and other stamps, including three 2022 Transformers Optimus Prime Royal Mail Fan Sheets, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Megatron, based on Marvel UK comic covers.

Three 2022 Transformers Optimus Prime Royal Mail Fan Sheets, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee & Megatron. The sheets are issued in a numbered limited edition of 5,000.
