2015 Harvey Award Winners Announced

Harvey Awards Winner LogoThis year’s Harvey Awards were presented Saturday night at a banquet in conjunction with Baltimore Comic-Con, with comics from Image Comics, Dark Horse Comics, and BOOM! Studios bringing those US publishers the most awards.

The Harvey Awards are nominated and voted on by comics professionals and the winners were:

Best Writer: Mark Waid, Daredevil, Marvel Comics

Best Artist: Fiona Staples, Saga, Image Comics

Best Cartoonist: Terry Moore, Rachel Rising, Abstract Studios

Best Cover Artist: Fiona Staples, Saga, Image Comics

Best Inker: Danny Miki, Batman, DC Comics

Best Colourist: Dave Stewart, Hellboy in Hell, Dark Horse Comics

Best Letterer: Jack Morelli, Afterlife with Archie, Archie Comic Publications

Most Promising New Talent: Chad Lambert, “Kill Me” from Dark Horse Presents, Dark Horse Comics

Best New Series: Southern Bastards, Image Comics

Best Continuing or Limited Series: Saga, Image Comics

Best Graphic Album Original: Jim Henson’s The Musical Monsters of Turkey Hollow, Archaia/BOOM! Studios

Best Single Issue or Story: “Breaking Out”, Dark Horse Presents #35, Dark Horse Comics

The founder of downthetubes, John works as a comics editor, writer, as Creative Consultant on the Dan Dare audio adventures for B7 Media, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. Working in British comics publishing for over 30 years, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Star Trek Magazine and Babylon 5 Magazine. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War and “Dan Dare”. He’s the writer of “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz, published on Tapastic; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood for digital comic 100% Biodegradable.
