Musomic - Commando Comic Promotion Image

Musomic
 –  a free comic building app for iPad – is continuing to expand its assets to create new comics, including imagery from DC Thomson’s Commando comic.

Launched in 2014, the Musomic app enables users to adapt and combine artwork, captions and sounds into new comics, offering budding comic creators the opportunity to create and publish comics worldwide.

The Plymouth-based company behind the app have had a presence at various comics events, and describe Musomic as “an innovative and exciting platform for creating, publishing and reading digital comics.”

The app already boasted a wide range of comic assets for use, including creator-owned assets by artists such as Guild of Winter founder Jack Hugh BakerWill Kirkby and Adam Smale, who earn revenue through in-app purchases. Earlier this year, Musomic announced a partnership with Dundee-based publisher DC Thomson, giving Commando fans the ability to create and narrate their own comics.

So far, they’ve added three packs of assets to the app, enabling fans to use original imagery from classic Commando comics to create their own stories and share them with comic fans across the globe.

“Partnering with forward thinking companies like DC Thomson is exactly where we want to be taking Musomic in the future,” says Ian Crawford, Director of Musomic. “Enabling fans of Commando, as well as Musomics’ existing user base, to engage with such well loved, iconic brands is exactly how we want to encourage creative and exciting writing!”

“We’re really happy to be working with Musomic to allow fans of Commando the opportunity to use these iconic artworks in some new and incredibly exciting ways,” said a DC Thomson spokesperson of the partnership when the first “Land” expansion pack was added to the app. “We’re looking forward to seeing what fans can come up with.”
