WebFind: Gene Colan: Visions of a Man Without Fear

If you’re a fan of artist Gene Colan like me, then this 48-page exhibition catalogue on offer from the San Francisco Cartoon Art Museum is a bit of a gem.

Gene Colan: Visions of a Man Without Fear features high-quality reproductions of select pieces from Gene Colan’s career-defining work for Marvel Comics from the 1960s and 1970s on titles as diverse as Daredevil, Captain America, Tomb of Dracula and Howard The Duck, to his notable run on DC Comics’ Batman in the 1980s, to his more recent efforts, including illustrations commissioned by his fans and his beautiful pencil artwork on titles such as Michael Chabon’s The Escapist, published by Dark Horse Comics.

The artwork is interspersed with exclusive essays from many of his most notable collaborators, including artists John Romita Sr. and Klaus Janson, writers Stan Lee, Marv Wolfman, Roy Thomas and Steve Englehart, with an introduction by author and exhibition co-curator Glen David Gold.

This book, made possible with the assistance of Ryan Graff and Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners, is available direct from the Cartoon Art Museum for just $17.95 plus postage here – one of several great comic related items on offer from the Museum
