A French Comics Affair revealed in London

Institut Français du Royaume-Uni - French Comics AffairAhead of this year’s Lakes International Comic Art Festival, (11th – 13th October 2019) and in partnership with Lyon BD Festival, comics author and expert Paul Gravett will be interviewing six French comics creators on Thursday 10th October at the Institut Français du Royaume-Uni in London.

Alessandro Tota, Arthur de Pins, Fabien Toulmé, Jibé, Nicolas Wild and Pierre Van Hove – all featured at the Lakes International Comic Art Festival – will be at the Institut français for this exclusive evening. They will discuss their craft with comics expert Paul and will then invite the audience to join them in a lively drink and draw session.

ZombilleniumAlessandro Tota and Pierre van Hove will also sign their new book Memoirs of a Book Thief, launched in the UK by SelfMadeHero, and there is also special screening of the animated adaptation of Zombillenium (available in English from NBM Graphic Novels) followed by a Q&A with Arthur de Pins at the Institut on Wednesday 9th October.

The founder of downthetubes, which he established in 1998. John works as a comics and magazine editor, writer, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Star Trek Explorer (previously known as Star Trek Magazine) and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War and “Dan Dare”. He’s the writer of "Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies" for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
