The much anticipated WandaVision spinoff Agatha All Along arrives on Disney+ soon, the first episode of the miniseries debuting on Wednesday 18th September.
The infamous Agatha Harkness finds herself down and out of power after a suspicious goth Teen helps break her free from a distorted spell. Her interest is piqued when he begs her to take him on the legendary Witches’ Road, a magical gauntlet of trials that, if survived, rewards a witch with what they’re missing. Together, Agatha and this mysterious Teen pull together a desperate coven, and set off down, down, down The Road…
Created by Jac Schaeffer for the streaming service Disney+, Agatha All Along is based on the Marvel Comics character Agatha Harkness, the latest television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) produced by Marvel Studios, via its Marvel Television label, sharing continuity with the films of the franchise. Schaeffer serves as showrunner and lead director.
Kathryn Hahn reprises her role as Agatha Harkness from WandaVision, with Joe Locke, as Teen, Sasheer Zamata, as Jennifer Kale, Ali Ahn, as Alice Wu-Gulliver, Maria Dizzia, Paul Adelstein, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Okwui Okpokwasili, Debra Jo Rupp, Patti LuPone, and Aubrey Plaza are also starring.
Part of “Phase Five” of the MCU, the series other seven episodes will be released weekly until 6th November.
COMICS INSPIRATION?
While the new series draws on WandaVision and the wider MCU, there are some Marvel Comics that might offer useful background. Suggested by fans are Avengers: The Children’s Crusade, Young Avengers Volume One, Young Avengers Volume Two, and Scarlet Witch (2015) which establish Wiccan and Speed, their relationship with Wanda, and the Witches’ Road.
