Anderson Entertainment has started taking pre-orders for its new limited edition Thunderbird 2 model at the Gerry Anderson store, the latest launch in the firm’s new premium range, following the successful release of two Eagle models from Space:1999, late last year.
Thunderbird 2 is arguably the best-loved and probably the most iconic of all Gerry Anderson vehicles, a rare boxed Dinky Toy from the 1960s recently selling on eBay for £225, an indication of its appeal.
The new die cast model from Anderson Entertainment is cast from a completely new tool that uses measurements from props and 3D scans. Thunderbird 2 is finished in its fixed pod configuration and comes with a launch ramp base, luxury packaging and a certificate of authenticity. This series will be limited to 2000 units worldwide and is priced at £124.99.
“We’re really pleased with how the new Thunderbird 2 has come out,” says Jamie Anderson MD. “Looking ahead, our pipeline of models looks really strong as we work towards the 50th anniversary of Space:1999 and 60th anniversary of Thunderbirds in 2025.”
Anderson Entertainment is a content production company set up by the late Gerry Anderson, creator of Supercar, Fireball XL5, Stingray, Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons, Joe 90 and The Secret Service, along with live-action productions Doppelgänger, UFO, The Protectors, Space: 1999 and The Day After Tomorrow, as well as the more recent Terrahawks, Dick Spanner, Space Precinct, Lavender Castle and New Captain Scarlet.
With Gerry’s son Jamie as its managing director, the company develops its own IP and projects from Gerry Anderson’s personal archive and manages Gerry Anderson’s estate and existing works.
