There are a huge number of comic and media-related auctions taking place this week and next, and it’s proving hard to keep up!
Not only is there the massive first Peter Hansen Comic Collection from Anderson & Garland (covered here), taking place tomorrow and Thursday, 11th – 12th March 2026 and Compal’s latest regular event (covered here); closing Sunday 15th March 2026; Ewbank’s is also running its The Nigel Kitching Comic Book Collection auction tomorrow, a sale of US comics, the collection of the Sonic the Comic artist that’s gained a fair amount of press attention. Plenty of 1960s and 70s DC and Marvel comics are on offer, and more besides.

But there are others too, perhaps missed, which offer some collectibles sure to interest downthetubes readers. Scarborough-based David Duggleby Auctioneers & Valuers is running a Toys & Models sale on 19th March, for example, offering a varied and engaging selection spanning nostalgic childhood favourites, collectable models and early 20th century toys. The auction is particularly strong in Lego, and includes sought-after sets such as Marvel’s SHIELD Helicarrier, and the Doctor Who TARDIS no. 21304, complete with Eleventh and Twelfth Doctor related minifigures, box and instructions.

Vintage toys and nostalgic pieces feature prominently throughout the sale. A standout lot is the rare 1930s Saalheimer & Strauss Mickey Mouse ‘Smile Please’ mechanical tinplate money box, a charming and highly collectable example of early Disney merchandising, and a small but appealing group of 1940s and 1950s Beano comics, including a scarce 1941 wartime issue.

Collectors of diecast and model vehicles will find plenty to attract attention, including the ever-popular Corgi Batman Gift Set no. 40, complete with its original packaging, alongside a Dan Dare rarity: aChad Valley Dan Dare Spaceship Construction Game, released in 1955. (The player that constructs their spaceship first is the winner… more information here).
Overall, the auction presents a lively and diverse catalogue with something to appeal to collectors of vintage toys, model vehicles, games, dolls and modern collectable classics alike.
David Duggleby Auctioneers & Valuers is a family-run business, established in 1996 by David and Jane Duggleby; initially run by the duo alone, we have now expanded into a nearly 30-strong team across three locations.
Remember, you need to register to bid in all these auctions run by auction houses, either on their respective websites, or through the catalogues on The-Saleroom. Good luck if you do… or simply scream, “I had one of those!”, “How much!?” or, “I’m just heading to the attic… I may be some time…”
