The guest for the Awesome Comics Podcast Episode 58 is the man behind the mighty Moose Kid Comics, Jamie Smart. As we reported just recently, a new issue of the brilliant digital comic for kids (of all ages) is out now, totally free, but this isn’t the only project he’s working on. In fact we think that just like writer Dan Abnett, Jamie has worked out how to clone himself, just to get all the things he’s up to out the door.
Jamie joins the gang to talk about how the yearly free-for-everyone Moose Kids Comic came to be, what it was like editing so many amazing creators, the world of kids comic publishing, his angry comic creating phase and so much more! The conversation dances in all directions as convention stories are told, gallows humour in kids comics discussed and artists talk the adventures of Periscoping your work.
There’s also some Bristol Comics Expo talk, dirty artist Chat Roulette, Vince Hunt steps up his Segway game, Tony Esmond talks about pranks he’s played on his workmates and Dan Butcher is the block.
Mentioned in this episode are: Jamie Smart, Fumboo, Moose Kid Comics, Bunny vs Monkey, Corporate Skull, The Phoenix, The Dandy, Readathon, Shit Flingers, Malevolence, Hugo Boylan, John Quigley, Kerrie Smith, Sleigher, Action Lab Comics, The Divine, First Second Books, Work, Kev Brett, Paul Rainey, Tales to Diminish, Story Studio Podcast, Jeff Steinberg: Champion of Earth, Oni Press, Joshua Hale Fialkov, Tony Fleecs, Lost Tales
