Aces Weekly and Beano cartoonist Marc Jackson is coming to Lancaster Comics Day on Sunday 11th June, to run one of his special Cartoon Club events, alongside the Lakes International Comic Art Festival.
Other guests at Lancaster Comics Day include Road to Perdition and Doctor Who artist Richard Piers Rayner, Tiger and Roy of the Rovers editor and writer Barrie Tomlinson, Roy of the Rovers artist David Sque, artist and publisher Tim Perkins, Amelia Cole artist Nick Brokenshire, publisher and writer Michael Barrett, publisher and writer Tom Ward, author A.S Chambers, with Lancaster Guardian cartoonist Jack Knight also providing comics creating fun for children.
Marc is a cartoonist, from Macclesfield, Cheshire, who lives with his daughters Nancy and Florence and his wife Jane.
His comics have appeared in the Beano, Aces Weekly, Macclesfield Today, NYC’s Brooklyn Red-Hook Star revue, Comic Heroes Magazine and Moosekid Comics.
He organises MACC-POW! a one-day comic art event in Macclesfield (back as part of the Barnaby Festival) and also run regular cartoon drawing workshops in libraries and schools all around the UK.
The Lakes International Comic Art Festival will be taking over a while room at Lancaster Comics Day to promote their Festival 13th – 15th October 2017. Monies raised at Lancaster Comics Day help support Lancaster Library and a donation is also being made to local cancer charity St. John’s Hospice. Admission price includes entry to all the event panels (first come, first served) which will include a tribute to Jack Kirby, a Doctor Who comics panel and a Self Publishing Panel.

The founder of downthetubes, which he established in 1998. John works as a comics and magazine editor, writer, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He is currently editor of Star Trek Explorer, published by Titan – his third tour of duty on the title originally titled Star Trek Magazine.
Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Babylon 5 Magazine, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”.
He’s the writer of “Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies” for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
