Beano Summer Special Out Now, Dandy Special out next month!

This year’s Beano Summer Special is on sale now in all good newsagents – and a Dandy Summer Special is on the way.

The Beano special, with a cover by Nigel Parkinson, offers 68 pages packed full of comics, jokes, puzzles and one spooky mystery, and comes with a sheet of stickers – everything you need to have a big summer adventure!

The Dandy Summer Special – featuring a new cover by Ken H. Harrison, a name synonymous with the long-running comic which sadly drew to a close back in December 2012 (lasting just six months beyond that in a digital form). His many comic credits include “Desperate Dan” for The Dandy, “The Broons”, and “Lord Snooty” and “Minnie the Minx” for The Beano.

Desperate Dan, Cuddles and Dimples and more return for the special – which also includes loads of awesome activities. It’s the only holiday souvenir you need!

Lew Stringer has posted that it’s expected that The Dandy special will be all reprint (as it has been for several years). Both Specials are (or will be) on sale in all good newsagents and supermarkets

John Freeman

The founder of downthetubes, which he established in 1998. John works as a comics and magazine editor, writer, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He is currently editor of Star Trek Explorer, published by Titan – his third tour of duty on the title originally titled Star Trek Magazine.

Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Babylon 5 Magazine, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”.

He’s the writer of “Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies” for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
