Black Hammer editor Daniel Chabon has joined the line up for the comic creator-focused Comics Uncovered conference, taking place in Birmingham in September.
Daniel is an Eisner-nominated comic book and graphic novel editor at Portland-based Dark Horse Comics. He has a master’s degree in book publishing from Portland State University and a law degree from Lewis & Clark Law School.
His editorial training in comics began by working as an assistant on Mike Mignola’s Hellboy for several years.
His focus at Dark Horse has mostly been creator-owned, where he has edited books by creators such as Margaret Atwood, Neil Gaiman, Jeff Lemire, Cullen Bunn, Matt Kindt, Garth Ennis, Dave McKean, Geof Darrow, and many more.
Daniel will be conducting portfolio reviews for aspiring creators and participating in panels at the conference, offering an amazing opportunity for those looking to work in very creator friendly environment within the industry.
Taking place 15th – 16th September 2018, at BECC in Birmingham, Comics Uncovered is a bi-annual event aimed at both the aspiring and working comic creators that aims to offer a rare opportunity to learn skills of the trade from some of the best in the comics Publishing field.
It features over a dozen seminars, workshops, demos and masterclasses on creating comics conducted by top professionals.
There will also be one to one portfolio reviews with editors, meetings with distributors for self publishers and a catered networking party in the evening to help you secure those valuable connections made during the day.

The founder of downthetubes, which he established in 1998. John works as a comics and magazine editor, writer, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He is currently editor of Star Trek Explorer, published by Titan – his third tour of duty on the title originally titled Star Trek Magazine.
Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Babylon 5 Magazine, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”.
He’s the writer of “Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies” for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
