Work on Rebellion’s upcoming Brian Bolland Apex Edition of Judge Dredd art is almost done, with only a few weeks to go before the book is sent to the printers… but there’s still time to contribute.
Due for release in February 2022, this Apex Edition will focus on the Judge Dredd work of one of 2000AD’s greatest creators. The deluxe, over-sized facsimile edition will feature new high-resolution scans of Bolland’s original art from 2000AD, showing his delicate inking brushwork in unprecedented detail.
As we previously reported, the project is being co-edited by Masters of British Comics author and artist David Roach and Rebellion graphic novels editor Oliver Pickles, and many pages of Bolland’s 2000AD work has already been located and scanned, brought together from private collections in the US, UK, France, and beyond. But more are very welcome.
“Do you have an amazing page of Judge Dredd artwork by Brian? If you’d like to see it included in the book, please do let me know!” David Roach asked on social media earlier today.
“And if you have a shy friend who hasn’t posted their collection online, please send them my way, there are still many pages I’ve not managed to track down yet.
“The book is looking absolutely incredible, I must say,” he enthuses. “Think of it as an art gallery in print devoted to one of the greatest British comic artists…I can’t wait to actually see it all in the flesh.”
David‘a appeal has already prompted one response, from Brian Bolland himself, who revealed he still owned some Dredd pages!
Brian Bolland: The Apex Edition follows Rebellion’s successful Zenith Apex Edition, which collected Steve Yeowell’s stunning artwork from his and Grant Morrison’s superhero series.
