Celestial Toyroom set to celebrate 20 years of “New Doctor Who” in this year’s annual

The Doctor Who Appreciation Society has trailed its Celestial Toyroom Annual 2025, available soon.

Celestial Toyroom, or CT as it is affectionately known, is the longest running Doctor Who fanzine in the world, the first edition having been published by the Society in 1976.

Today it is the principal journal of the DWAS and is published quarterly. If you join the society via their membership page, you will receive that quarter’s edition of CT as part of your three month membership. (Paid membership will stop from 1st April 2025).

Celebrating 20 years since Doctor Who made its long-awaited return to television in 2005, the mammoth, 240-page Celestial Toyroom Annual 2025 bookazine features reviews of the Eighth and Ninth Doctors’ television stories, in-depth guides to their comic book, audio and novel adventures, an interview with Dalek writer Robert Shearman, brand new fiction, and more.

The Annual (an unofficial, non-profit making publication) is edited by Bruce Nicholson and designed by Grahame Robertson.

Head to the Doctor Who Appreciation Society website for information on this and the latest issue of Celestial Toyroom.

Ahead of the new annual’s release, the Society has made The Celestial Toyroom Annual 2024 available to all fans as a free digital download. The eighth annual in the series, it covers the Fourth Doctor’s era. Every televised story from Robot to Logopolis is covered, along with features on the BBC Radio Programme Exploration Earth and Doctor Who and the Pescatons.

Not available in print, the book features articles from over 40 different contributors, along with cover illustrations produced especially for the book by Alister Pearson and Graeme Wey. Matthew Waterhouse, who played companion Adric, provides the After Word.

The Doctor Who Appreciation Society is currently gearing up for Capitol Cutaway, a one-day event presented by Space Rocket Ltd., which will take place on Sunday 6th April 2025 at POSK (Polish Social and Cultural Association), 238-246 King Street, Hammersmith, London W6 0RF.

Capitol Cutaway will offer a mix of guest panels, autographs, photo studio, merchandise and more besides. Peter Davison, the Fifth Doctor, Sarah Sutton (Nyssa), Jo Martin (The Fugitive Doctor) and Susan Twist (who played various roles in the series) have been announced so far.
