Neill Cameron and Ramzee have been announced as the first comic creator guests for Portsmouth Comic Con 2025, returning Saturday 3rd – Sunday 4th May to Portsmouth Guildhall. Both are appearing at the event for the first time.
With its roots firmly based in comics, Portsmouth Comic Con welcomes the finest artists and writers from across the industry. They form part of its stellar Artists Alley line-up each year, giving fans the chance to delve behind the scenes and meet the creators of some of their favourite works.
Comic artists and writer Neill Cameron is creator of the graphic novel series Mega Robo Bros, the Freddy Vs School illustrated novels, and the sheer absolute nonsense that is Donut Squad every week in The Phoenix.
In 2016 Mega Robo Bros and Tamsin and the Deep were both shortlisted for the British Comic Awards. In 2017, Mega Robo Bros won the Excelsior Award Jr, a national comic award voted for by school and library reading groups across the UK. In 2018, Mega Robo Bros was chosen as one of the best children’s comics of the year by both the New York Public Library and the School Library Journal.
Neill is a former artist-in-residence at The Story Museum in Oxford, where he contributed several large-scale comic strip installations. He continues to be involved in comics-based education and activities, including curating the exhibition Kaboom: The Art of Creating Comics in 2023, and running a monthly Comics Club group for young cartoonists.
Also announced is Ramzee, an author-illustrator based in London whose debut middle grade novel The Cheat Book was published by Hachette Childrens in June 2024. He has also written strips for 2000AD and Marvel and designs and runs his own comics and illustration workshops.
He was nominated for a British Comics Award in 2016, won the Second Prize in the Faber Children’s FAB Prize in 2017, was selected to take part in the Vaults Festival New Writers Programme in 2019 and recently was chosen for the BBC’s London Voices Writer’s Room Programme.
The Artists Alley is just one feature of the largest family-friendly Comic Con of its kind, which presents the best in comic, film, TV and pop culture entertainment in a fully immersive and fun day out for all.
