Limit Break Comics, as it stands, seems to be one of the last people standing in the world of comics publishing in the Republic of Ireland. downthetubes readers will probably know them as the publishers behind James Bacon’s two books on comics, Irish Conflict in Comics and the newly-released A Sensual Cesspool of Iniquity.

However, one of the ways it really made a name for itself is in a number of comic book anthologies, which attracted creators from all around the world. Spearheaded by editor Paul Carroll, these anthologies were all based on myths, folklore, legends and fairytales. The first one, Turning Roads, featured comics based on Irish mythology. This was followed by Down Below (Greek Myths), Fractured Realms (Norse Horror) and Wish Upon A Star (Far Future Fairy Tales).

Their latest title, Bump In The Night, once again boasts a list of over forty creators from all around the world, including writers Mark Abnett, Brendan Albetski, Corinna Bechko, Daniel Bell, Paul Carroll, Raymonde Chira, EV Doom, Keith Frady, Jimmy Gaspero, Oliver Gerlach, Rob Jones, Gary Moloney, Matt Mortal, Matthew Palacios, Laura Romano, Narjes Ruyan, Nate Schachter, Rodrigo Ortiz Vinholo, Asa Wheatley, and artists Livio Baggio, Chase Bluestone, PR Dedelis, Bruno Ferrante, Frederik Hornung, James Killian, Robby Melendez, Leonie O’Moore, Finn O’Sullivan, Mari Rolin, Ana-Maria Sandu, Adam Szatowski, and Sammy Ward.

This is a Eco-Horror comic, with stories based on cryptids; creatures that people have claimed to have seen but there has been no scientific proof of their existence. Included in the anthology are creatures such as the Loch Ness Monster, Mothman, the Kurupira, the Yeti and the Jersey Devil.

As with previous books, this book features a cover by a veteran Irish creator, in this case, Eoin Coveney, from 2000AD, amongst other comics work.

Limit Break have just launched a Zoop campaign for the project, which seeks to raise $15,000 to fund the production of the book. Alongside digital and physical copies of Bump in the Night, backers can choose from stickers, postcards, prints, and an enamel pin. The print artists for the campaign are Gareth Luby and John McGuinness, Donna Black, and Lane Lloyd.
