Comichaus.com is a marketplace and database site set up by Devon-based Peter Ward-Edwards, who has successfully been running Genepool Records and distribution for ten years. Interest in the services of the Comichaus site spawned the idea for a monthly 44-page British comic book anthology, featuring independent creators from around the world and covers by established comic book legends.
With black and white interiors, perfect bound and printed by comicprintinguk.com, if the project gains funding the book will launch in August 2016 with a cover by Glenn Fabry, followed by a second issue in September featuring a cover by John McCrea.
The first issue will feature strips by James McCulloch, Jessica Byrne, Dave Cook, Norrie Millar, Jon Laight, Dan Butcher, Ed Bickford, Aaron Walther, Luke Cooper, Tom Ward and Iain Laurie; and the second, work by James McCulloch, Jessica Byrne, Dave Cook, Norrie Millar, Jon Laight, Dan Butcher, Ed Bickford, Aaron Walther, Luke Cooper, Chris Welsh and Dav Pav.
“The target amount is for the creation and printing of the first issue,” Peter Ward-Edwards says. “Any extra monies we raise will go towards funding the subsequent monthly issues.
The first issue is complete and ready to go, and everyone is working on second issue, and printers www.comicprintinguk.com are primed.”
“We do not foresee any unplanned issues as we have given ourselves quite a big time frame with this project.”
Comichaus seem to have carefully thought through all aspects of this new anthology, so let’s hope it soon joins other independent publications such as Futurequake, and digital anthologies 100% Biodegradable and Aces Weekly as an outlet for new talent sorely lacking from the British new stand these days.
