Comics @ Aye Write! Glasgow’s Book Festival 2017

Aye Write! 2017The Glasgow Book Festival Aye Write! returns to the city from 9th to 19th March 2017 of this year with a multitude of bookish talks, discussions and workshops over three locations, the Mitchell Library, Aye Write’s spiritual home, as well as the nearby Centre For Contemporary Arts (CCA) and, for the events featuring big names of the business, the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.

 

In recent years Aye Write has featured comics, graphic novels and their creators and this year is no exception with a varied selection of workshops on how to write and draw comics and talks by a selection of comic creators.

Maria Stoian and Una – Feminism in Comics

Join Maria Stoian (It Is Not a Compliment) and Una (Becoming Unbecoming) and chair Sasha de Buyl-Pisco as they discuss the different ways that creators use comics and cartooning as a medium for sharing feminist viewpoints.

In addition to the main Aye Write! festival and preceding it in February there is a junior festival called Wee Write! which includes a workshop by Viz writer/artist John Fardell focussing on his children’s storybooks. There are more details at the Wee Write website.

Join the author-illustrator of Manfred the Baddie and The Day Louis Got Eaten for this fun interactive workshop with lots of tips, techniques and inspiration to create exciting comic strips and picture stories. A must for budding comic strip writers. Suitable for 8+ years.
