Macclesfield, host to the hugely-popular annual Macc-Pow Comic Art Festival, is the location of another fun comic event next month, thanks to artist Marc Jackson. Coming up on Wednesday 5th August, be ready to drop-in on Super Comics! One Big Live Draw! It’s suitable for everyone, from age 6+.
“They say go big or go home. Well it’s Summer, and it’s too nice to be inside!” Marc enthuses. “So I’m heading to Market Place in Macclesfield to take part once again in the Macclesfield Town Council ‘Do Something Summer’ holiday activities!”
On Wednesday 5th August Marc will be hosting a Super Comic! Big Draw!, where anyone can come along to make super-big comics with me! It’s a drop-in activity between 11.00am and 3.00pm, that allows you to get stuck in and collaborate on comics making of the grandest scale.
“You can make a full comics page, or simply add something to what has already been created,” says Marc. “It’s going to be epic!
“Bring your own ideas, or be inspired by my top tips to making COMICS of any kind!”
Marc wil also have his Pop-Up Comix Shop setup and ready to suit your comics consuming needs, and you can also check out the Manga exhibition still running at Macclesfield Library for extra inspiration.
Suited to ages 6+ with badge-making, colouring sheets and lots of elements available for the younger creators in your family. So head along and join in the fun, and treat yourselves to an ice-cream after a day of creativity!

Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine and Overkill for Marvel UK, Babylon 5 Magazine, Star Trek Magazine, and its successor, Star Trek Explorer, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics; and has edited several comic collections and graphic novels, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”, and Hancock: The Lad Himself, by Stephen Walsh and Keith Page.
He’s the writer of comics such as Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs”, with Dave Hailwood.
