Comics Take over Frome, Somerset this Weekend! (And watch out for Darth Vader, too…)

Frome Comic Con LogoThis weekend 12th – 13th August 2017 will see the second ever Frome Comic Con which I’m afraid I’ve missed news about completely so apologies to the organisers.

Frome, in Somerset, is home to Disconnected Press, run by Conor and Lizzie Boyle, and they’ve been doing their bit to bring some great writers, artists, bloggers and publishers to town.

Saturday 12th features a Heroes and Villains football match at Frome Football Club from 12 – 1.00pm, a charity event with all proceeds going to Time is Precious, a voluntary run charity which has been running since 2011. It was set up by Neil and Nicky Halford in memory of their son Ben sadly died from cancer in 2010. Donations to enter.
The Frome Comic Con Opening Party will take place at Rook Lane Chapel. Be the first to see some of the action with Batman’s new ride from Podpadstudios and the hero/ villains of GCUK.
There are two sections – The first is the family time of 5.00 – 7.00pm, Adults £5, Children £3. The second is adult only from 7.30pm priced at £10 each where the over 18 content will happen. Party in “Wayne’s Manor” and expect some unexpected goings on with special guests!
The big event will be on the Sunday 13th August from 10.00am – 4.00pm, centring on the main venue in town, the Cheese and Grain (which played host to the Foo Fighters earlier this year – seriously – here‘s the official video!).
Here you’ll find traders, retailers and special guest Dave Prowse, the original Darth Vader. Entertainment, vehicles, costumers and activities all at only £4 entry.

Artist Conor Boyle and writer Lizzie Boyle of Disconnected Press will be in the Creators’ hub at the Black Swan Arts Centre, joined by:

If you’re in the area for a day out, then drop into in the Long Gallery at Black Swan Arts, 2 Bridge Street, Frome (above SEED).

This is also the day when other venues and establishments will be theming up including the Archangel as Star Wars, Cordero Lounge as DC, Frome’s New Venue are back with their Retro Gaming, the Harry Potter theme returns to The Three Swans (be ready of the Sorting Hat). Other local businesses including Covers Vinyl, Sam’s Kitchen Deli and Extra Life Video Game Bar will also be getting involved – not to mention all the streets to be occupied on the day with many visitors and cosplayers (look out for a ton of cosplay and great coffee at The River House).
