ComicScene, which returns as a print publication in November, has opened nominations for its annual awards.
The final nominations will be announced in January, for votes and be announced in February 2024, and the nomination form is here. You do not have to fill in each category.
“The ComicScene Awards are nominated by you, the readers,” says publisher Tony Foster, “not the comic critics. We invite comic fans and comic creators to give your nominations for the 2024 Awards.
“This year we have some new categories that reflect comics today as well as the opportunity for you to tell us your Best Of All Time comics choice.”
Categories include Best UK Comic, Best US Comic and Best International Comic (not UK, US or Manga) of 2023; Best Indie Comic of 2023, Best Comic Event, Best Manga, Best Comic Creator, Best New Comic Talent, Best Comic Of All Time, and many others.
After a successful Kickstarter earlier this year, ComicScene, a comic magazine based in the UK, returns with a new look and new format in November 2023.
ComicScene was launched in 2018 from a kitchen table in Scotland and quickly ended up in comic shops and newsagents in the UK and overseas, including the United States, Canada, New Zealand and Australia.
“20 issues later and just as we were about to launch in comic shops across the US a certain pandemic occurred and ComicScene unfortunately had to fold,” Tony sales.”Footfall in shops plummeted, as did sales.
“We have continued our website (comicscene.org) but the magazine has been put on the backburner. Until now…
“We aim to be the voice of the comic industry,” he continues. “There will be features, but our Unique Selling Point will be to invite people involved in comics to contribute their own voice to our pages.”
