Hachette’s 2000AD: The Ultimate Collection draws to a close

2000AD: The Ultimate Collection - Final Issues

Hachette’s 2000AD: The Ultimate Collection part work, available on subscription and from some Local Comic Shops and in newsagents, including WHSmith, ends its run soon.

Rogue Trooper: Friday Volume 3, Issue 200, will round off the long running fortnightly series, which launched back in 2017, the successor to the Judge Dredd: The Mega Collection.

The Order Volume Two, Issue 199, is in shops and available from Hachette direct now.

In a letter to subscribers with recent issues, Hachette stated “As you may be aware, the collection is now coming to an end and we’d like to thank you for your continued support.”

The long-running series, which Hachette began testing in some areas in February 2017, followed by a national launch in August the same year with Sláine: The Horned God, has included collections of many 2000AD strips not released, as yet, in collection from Rebellion. It proved such a success the run was extended more than once, to a final 200 issue run.

Over on the official 2000AD forum, fans looking for back issues of the Partworks have been warned in a dedicated thread about the Collection to grab back issues still available on the official website for the series while they can.

2000AD: The Ultimate Collection Issue 179 focused on “The Mind of Wolfie Smith”, not yet collected by Rebellion, a strip that launched in the short-lived Tornado comic in 1979, and was merged into the Galaxy’s Greatest Comic

“When the other partworks came to an end, [Hachette] took things down from the site pretty rapidly,” a forum administrator cautioned, “So when 200 is in the wild (a month from now?), grab whatever books you want while they’re still around, rather than hanging on for weeks.”

As of last week, only 57 out of a possible 200 issues are available from Hachette, some showing as Low Stock. Grab what’s left whilst you can.

Hachette ended posts to the series social media pages back in March.
