Mr Mandrake’s Marvellous Manual of Monsters is a new kids picture book by Stu Perrins and Arthur Goodman, featuring a host of weird and wonderful monsters, out in October.
Renowned monster watcher Atticus Mandrake has dedicated his life to discovery and study of unusual and otherworldly creatures so that the world can learn why no-one wants to befriend a Dwiddlefart, how a Wizzylisp can travel back time or what causes a Greyfling’s head to explode.
Stu Perrins is perhaps best known for his comics such as the wonderful Chrono Cat and, the comic series, Cosmic Debris, and is the writer and co-creator of Megatomic Battle Rabbit.
Arthur Goodman is a cartoonist and comic creator based in Liverpool who’s been making and self-publishing comics since the turn of the century, starting with the group humour anthology Square Eyed Stories, and including various solo projects, the most recent being Experience the Magic of the Legend!. He’s also contributed to various comic anthologies over the years, including the Eisner Award nominated To End All Wars.
“I’m rather arrogantly describing Mr Mandrake’s Marvellous Manual of Monsters as ‘Monty Python for pre-teens’,” he said in an interview for ComicBookNews earlier this year.
“I’ve never written anything with that particular tone, so it was nice to exercise that creative muscle.”
