American indie Randolph Literary Press, publishers of Cosmic Horror Monthly, is seeking support for a new venture, Goblins & Galaxies Magazine, a brand new sword and sorcery, dark fantasy magazine, that pays homage to the old pulp magazines and amplifies new voices.

Over the past five years Charles Tyra served as chief editor for the first 48 issues of Cosmic Horror Monthly. “It isn’t easy publishing a print magazine in today’s market and though there have been occasional delays, we have never missed an issue,” he notes.
“We are passionate about turn-of-the-century pulp magazines like Weird Tales and have tried with each issue to pay homage while also amplifying modern story-telling techniques and diverse voices.
“We want to bring that same approach to a brand-new magazine, emphasising Sword & Sorcery, Dark Fantasy, and Science Fiction! (Yes, we will be trying to combine those sub genres, in new and exciting ways!)”
The new magazine will be largely text based, all contributors paid for their work, and, with the right level of support, they can also feature additional illustrations.
In the works, its Kickstarter target smashed – but you can still support the title here – is a new high-quality quarterly print magazine, that will pay as much as possible to its contributing writers and artists.
This new magazine will only spotlight art and prose created by humans, and with proper funding they plan to debut as a pro rate magazine paying six cents per word, instead of three cents. While they almost have enough support to offer four cents a word, they’d need $13000 in support to offer the six cents rate.
