The latest crowdfunding campaign from the comic creator team The Etherington Brothers is underway. As before, this campaign has totally smashed its original £1000 target, with over £76,000 raised so far for another of their collections of art guidance, How to THINK when you DRAW Volume Four.
The How to THINK when you DRAW books are each 200 page full colour hardback books, collecting together masses of Lorenzo Etherington’s drawing tutorials, covering an enormous range of subjects.
The series is extremely user-friendly, designed to benefit every skill level, from the absolute beginner to the seasoned professional.
Although the Etherington Brothers have made it their mission to share all their writing and drawing tutorials for free, online, for years, these hardback collections are really handy physical guides, beautifully put together and produced. I’ve bought all of them myself for reference and this campaign not only enables you to support the new book, but grab new editions of previous volumes, too, as well as the stunning Art of STRANSKI art book by Lorenzo Etherington.
Previous Volumes 1 – 3, all funded through Kickstarter, the most successful crowdfunding projects for art books on that platform so far, have been completely sold out since the Brothers last campaign. Book 4 is brand new and being launched exclusively on Kickstarter.
Robin and Lorenzo Etherington are British comic, book and film creators who work together as The Etherington Brothers. They created the free online series of tutorials How to Think when you Draw and How to Think When You Write, before printing them with the support of Kickstarter crowdfunding.
Their clients include studios such as Disney, Dreamworks, Aardman, and the BBC and have worked on properties such as Star Wars, Transformers, Kung Fu Panda and How to Train Your Dragon. They also enjoy running comic workshops for class size groups of 7 – 12 year olds to encourage creative free-thinking in young children through comic art and storytelling.
The How to THINK books will not be available anywhere else or in shops outside of Kickstarter for at least the next two years – so if you’re already a fan, check them out now, and if you still need convincing… well, follow the links below!
