Dirty Rotten Comics Issue 4 - Cover

The team behind Dirty Rotten Comics are having a launch event for Dirty Rotten Comics Issue 4 on Friday 17th April at the Horse and Stables pub opposite Lambeth North tube station.

This bumper Spring 2015 anthology clocks in at just under a staggering hundred pages and features comics by over forty UK artists, including Tom Burnham, Silvia CarrusSarah CrosbyMatthew Dooley, Daniel Ferreira (creator of Modern Love), Jillian FleckHannah Lee MillerDanny Noble, David Ziggy Greene, Elizabeth Querstret, Lee Healey, Barney Farmer (Lee and Barney being the team behind the brilliant “Drunken Bakers” in VIZ), Jey Levang, Luca Romeo, Paul Shinn, Richard Swann, Teah and Jack West, with a colour back cover by Claude TC.

Dirty Rotten Comics is an alternative comics anthology, published twice yearly in the spring and autumn. The team behind it are committed to supporting small press artists from the UK who have something pertinent to say. “We believe that artistic merit is founded not just on aesthetic quality, but on high-quality writing, risk-taking and commitment. Weird, funny, satirical, surreal; whatever the angle, we are interested in giving exposure to artists of all kinds, regardless of their status or experience.”

Their third issue was launched at the Bristol Comic and Zine Fair  last October, with contributions from a diverse group of creators including Elizabeth Querstret, Jey Levang, The Happy Ghetto, Claude TC, Hector Lowe and others. (Reviews can be found at Broken Frontier and here on DownTheTubes).

The launch event, which starts at  7.30pm will feature many of the anthology’s contributors (and friends!). The Horse and Stable is just a few minutes’ walk from the Thames and world famous sites like Big Ben and London’s South Bank.

If you can’t make this launch event, fear not! The team host Beer and Comics, a weekly meet-up for comic creators in London in the same venue, taking place every Wednesday evening from 7.30pm. It’s a very informal affair, we’re told. “We get together for beers, a bit of chat, and a few improvised comics. All are welcome, from first-timer to professional.

“You needn’t bring anything – we provide pens and paper for doodling – however, feel free to bring along sketchbooks, comics, zines, etc.”
