If you’re heading to the Doctor Who fan event Whooverville 17 in Derby tomorrow, look out for art collector Matt Carter’s stand in the Dealers Room, who will have some fantastic artworks up for sale.
Pages on offer, from Doctor Who Magazine and other titles, include the work of Mike Collins, Dave Gibbons and Lee Sullivan. He will be selling some Target Books, too.
Matt, who has an extensive gallery of comic art on Comic Art Fans, shared examples of some of the pages in his Whooverville Comic Sale earlier this week, and we’ve included some examples here, but it’s possible some may have already sold privately, such was the level of interest from members of the Facebook Doctor Who Comics and Art: A Voyage group.
Fan group The Whoovers in association with Derby QUAD are bringing Whooverville, the East Midlands favourite convention for fans of the BBC’s Doctor Who, back to QUAD for their seventeeth year tomorrow, Saturday 5th September 2026. Expect a day jam-packed with activities, including celebrity guest panels, autograph and photo sessions, displays and dealers, and, above all, a chance to meet fellow fans in a relaxed and fun environment.
Confirmed guests at the event, in alphabetical order, include (as usual subject to work commitments): Sophie Aldred (Ace); Mark Ayres (Doctor Who music composer); John Carley (Big Finish’s War Doctor); Neil Cole (owner of the amazing Museum of Classic Sci-fi in Allendale, Northumberland); David Banks (Cyber-Leader and Virgin New Adventures novelist); Anita Dobson (Mrs Flood/The Rani), Janet Fielding (Tegan); Jason Haigh-Ellery (Managing Director, Big Finish Productions); Janet Fielding (Tegan Jovanka); Toby Hadoke (actor, writer, comedian, presenter); Mark Hardy (Cyber Lieutenant); Mickey Lewis (Cyberman actor and writer); Alex Moore (Doctor Who Locations Manager); Peter McTighe (writer); Paul Vanezis (TV producer/director, missing episodes and restoration expert); and more. The Whoovers – online at whoovers.org.uk – are a group of Doctor Who fans based in Derby, who meet twice monthly, alternating between in-person gatherings and online meetings.
They regularly have invited special guests from the classic and current series to their meetings.
