Ace 2000AD artist Chris Weston recently created a fun painting depicting a meeting between The Fourth Doctor of Doctor Who fame and Judge Dredd, in an imaginary scenario where Justice Department might have got their hands on some Dalek technology.

Drawn in ink and painted in watercolours, with a few gouache highlights, on cartridge paper mounted on thick card.
Needless to say, a fan quickly acquired this one-off gem, but Chris kindly shared some images on his social media.
Comics and Beyond

If you’re interested in Chris Weston’s work, then you’ll be pleased to hear he and fellow 2000AD artist Boo Cook, alongside concept artist Calum Alexander Watt, are the guests taking part in Comics and Beyond, a special Arts Question Time event at the Printers Playhouse, Eastbourne, on Sunday 16th March 2025.

Boo Cook is best known for his work on 2000AD, on strips such as “ABC Warriors”, “Judge Anderson”, “Judge Dredd” , his covers on titles such as Marvel’s X-Factor, the Elephantmen: War Toys prequel mini-series, and subsequently, the interior art for Elephantmen #21, and Doctor Who titles for Titan Comics. He started and contributed to the 2000AD Online Charity Auction.

Alongside his work as a concept artist for film, Chris Weston’s many comic credits encompass 2000AD on Judge Dredd, Killing Time and more, and, for US publishers, he’s well known for his work on titles such as the recently-published Paranoid Gardens, as well as Batman, Swamp Thing, Superman and The Twelve.

Calum Alexander Watt is a freelance Concept Artist for film, TV and games, whose credits include work on Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Star Wars.
Hosted by Gemma Bryden. “Comics and Beyond” will be an informal yet informative discussion of the three artist’s careers focussing on their comics work and how that has led to work in other related fields.
Arts Question Time is an occasional series that brings together some of Eastbourne’s top creative talents to answer your questions on aspects of their journey, their craft, career and the arts industry itself.
Monies raised from ticket sales will go towards keeping the community arts hub rolling into the future, so get on down, have a drink with three great artists, and, as Boo says “get your geek on!”
