Launching with Calling the Doctor, free on the UNIT website, the Doctor Who: Circuit Breaker multimedia event is fully up and running, continuing through the summer, across books, audios, and more.
The first of Titan Comics two-issue mini series tie-in, Adversary of the Daleks, is out now, and the latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine, Issue 632, also on sale now, includes a smashing 20-page Circuit Breaker comic supplement, as well as the start of a The Daleks’ Master Plan tie-in tale in the magazine itself.
As we previously reported, Circuit Breaker sees UNIT scientist Osgood discovers that items from the highly secure Black Archive have gone missing. Worse still, these powerful alien artifacts could also tear reality itself apart. But when Osgood summons the Doctor for help, she comes face to face with a stranger…
In Dawn of the Daleks, which was released 8th July, the Doctor travels to the war-ravaged world of Skaro as the Doctor battles the Daleks with the fate of their Kaled forebears at stake. The Time Lord appears to be at a disadvantage, against an unfamiliar threat that seems to know her better than she knows herself. But then again, the Fugitive Doctor is more ruthless than any incarnation the Daleks have ever met before…
The story is written by Dulce M. Montoya and Dan Watters (also writer of the Doctor Who stories Everyone Must Go! and The Prison Paradox, and Batman: Dark Patterns), with art by Sami Kivelä (Undone by Blood).
Doctor Who: Circuit Breaker #1 is still available now from your Local Comic Shop in the UK and the US, released with numerous variant covers. The story continues next month, #2, Dawn of the Daleks, released 8th August.
A collection is out on 1st December from Forbidden Planet (Affiliate Link) and the following week, 9th December, in bookshops and online stores such as AmazonUK (Affiliate Link)
Double the comic strip in Doctor Who Magazine!
Over at Doctor Who Magazine, you can definitely say the team have embraced The Fugitive Doctor, including a special Circuit Breaker story, “The Honorable Society”, as a special supplement, alongside an issue that ponders the future for Doctor Who.
Jason Quinn delivers the script on the special story, with art by Anthony Williams, in which the Doctor heads into the past to battle a typically vicious Sontaran, and there are further teases about the cause of the danger facing UNIT and the Time Lord.
We’re also treated to “Cloud of Suspicion” by Alan Barnes, with art by John Ross, a story set during “The Daleks’ Master Plan”, that pits the First Doctor and companions against a very familiar foe, that isn’t the pepperpot perils… much to Stephen’s dismay!
While we are still waiting for new Doctor Who on television, it is great to see various licence holders delivering new details featuring the Time Lord. Long may that continue!
