In the run-up to publication of the landmark Doctor Who Magazine Issue 500 (which is out next week and is a real bumper issue), the current editorial team are asking you to vote for your favourite DWM covers.
With a massive 54,565 votes cast in the preliminary rounds, the 50 finalists are now ready to be voted on and nedless to say, as one of the title’s former editors, I’m delighted to see that while many favourite covers are photographic, it’s an absolute delight to see several covers I specifically commissioned as editor in the Top 50. Thank you to everyone who voted for these.
They include both Spitting Image-style covers featuring the Seventh Doctor and Ace by acclaimed designers by Sue Moore and Steve Mansfield – and art covers by John Higgins, Alister Pearson and Colin Howard, some from my era, some later. It’s great to see Adrian Salmon‘s Zygon cover up there, for example.
Well done to you splendid chaps for creating such iconic art! (And smashing to see so many Doctor Who Weekly covers in the mix, too, which include some of my favourites).
Now you need to choose your favourite five from these covers, which have made it through to this final round.
• Vote at the DWM website right now – the poll ends at midnight on Sunday 22 May – and please share this post! #DWM500: http://www.doctorwhomagazine.com/top50/
